An escape room experience in itself is always an adventure. But when the theme requires you to indulge in an unusual, exciting and possibly a little dangerous activity, no one can say no!
We’ve been to many escape rooms and so far, whenever we are bringing new people and want to be sure of a quality experience, we choose De Code. If you’ve not tried an escape room before, it’s a must do and bring at least 3 friends/family members as everyone has a different way of thinking that contributes to the experience. By quality, I mean multiple rooms, puzzles that all work, not hearing things going on in adjacent rooms, helpful staff, etc. De Code has all of that with games of varying levels of difficulty. This time, we did The Mutagen Effect and it was awesome! We were also awarded time for free board game play and they have a really extensive offering of games, a great room, and an offering of snacks in case you get hungry. Plus, if you follow them on social, you get a discount. Parking is easy and free right next to the door.

The staff was so nice and friendly! We booked online + Liked them on Instagram and received a discount for doing both. I went with my boyfriend and we did the Mutagen Effect room. It was a great multi-room escape challenge with clean and well decorated rooms. The puzzles were a little challenging but not overly difficult, although they were not very linear. After solving a puzzle we had to take a minute to try to figure out what the next step was as, like I mentioned, the puzzles weren't very liner compared to other rooms we have done. A couple of tips for those looking to do this specific room: 1) don't focus much about the music, 2) all the books sit on the bookshelf well ...I don't want to be too specific cause I don't want to give anything away, but once you're in the room you'll know what I mean! A suggestion to the company itself: take out any unecessary elements that people don't need to solve the puzzles as it's really confusing when you're focused so much on one thing but it's not actually needed at all to solve that puzzle. Also, it would be great if there was a little more guidance in a couple of parts (for example making it clearer that the white line is the floor so people don't have to use hints to figure out what that line is, or make it a little clearer as to what is needed to be done with the blue book). Apart from that, we were impressed with the staff, the escape room itself, and the facility. We enjoyed our adventure and will be coming back for more!

Went with 5 other people - age ranged from 14-28 yrs old.The difficulty level for this room is rated 4/5. We managed to finish with a bit more than 15 minutes to spare; no hints! This was our second time as a group trying out an escape room with the exception of one person who's done multiple rooms (mostly escape rooms in Toronto).

Very relaxed and friendly environment from the moment we stepped into the building. They offered a discount if you post something about De Code on social media that we all definitely took advantage of.
No front parking space when we went on a Saturday afternoon but a lot of space at their back parking lot. Lockers were available for us to store our belongings. No phones allowed in the room - probably to keep us from looking things up as we went along and to also keep us from posting/spoiling the room for others.
Each person contributed in solving the puzzles. It was fun and very interactive. We will be coming back to try other rooms.
After we finished we were directed to the board game room where there was a lot of space and tables. There is also a snack bar in the corner!
Definitely a must-try!
